Japanese posters

An honest note before the beauty: these are contemporary decorative prints on Japanese subjects, not reproductions of historical woodblocks — this merchant stocks no Hokusai, no Hiroshige, and we do not dress modern prints in borrowed lineage. What the range does offer is the mood that makes Japanese art so livable: composed, spacious, calm without ever being dull. Koi ponds, temple gardens and castle towns suit quiet rooms — bedrooms, reading corners, entryways that should lower the pulse on arrival. The compositions breathe, so honour that: one print with generous wall around it, at 12×18 or 16×20, beats a crowd. Pale wood and white frames echo the paper; black frames sharpen the graphic line work. Start with a landscape if you want calm, a figure if you want story — either way, hang it where you'll pass slowly.

How this collection is chosen: Japanese subjects with a contemplative centre — koi, gardens, temples and quiet landscapes, chosen for calm line and colour.
